Nationals Park // 1 of 30 // Where in the World is Mark Darden?
WHEN THE GLASSES ARE ON, THERE'S SOME TRAVELING GOIN' ON! Today's blog post is my trip to Washington, D.C. for the Nationals game. My goal in 2017 is to visit all 30 MLB stadiums and my quest for 30 began at Nationals Park. The game occurred on April 6, 2017 and the Washington Nationals faced off against the Miami Marlins. The vlog for this trip is at the top of blog post.
My day began VERY EARLY in the morning as my flight from Columbus departed at 5:40 am. I arrived at DCA a little before 7 am and I made the trek to my hotel near BWI airport. I arrived to my hotel around 9:30 am and relaxed for a couple of hours before the game. There was severe weather in the area in the hours leading up to game time and I thought the game would be postponed. Luckily, the severe weather blew through the DC area about 2 hours before the game started and game was going to go on as scheduled.
The game was originally supposed to start at 4:05 pm but rain showers came through the DC area right before the game. The game ended up being delayed for about 1 1/2 hours and the game started at 5:25 pm. In the bottom of the 6th inning, another squall of rain showers blew through the DC area and the game was delayed for 1 hour and 20 minutes. Play resumed after the rain subsided with the Nationals leading 1-0. In the 9th inning, the Marlins tied the game up 3-3 and eventually took the lead in the top of the 10th inning. Miami won the game 4-3 in the 10th inning. I had a great time at the game even though there were 2 hours and 23 minutes in rain delays. This was my first game in my quest for 30 and I can't wait to see where my journey will take me.
